Welcome to my portfolio

What I most enjoy

The most rewarding part of design is not always the 'A-Ha!' moment of the creative process, nor the beholding of a beautiful finished product, but also acknowledging and appreciating design that is transparent and effortless.

What I do best

My strengths lie in developing print material and corporate identity. I have an ever-growing interest in typography and the way people read – and can be engaged to read.

Despite having a print-heavy background, I have a knack for front-end website design. While Flash slowly becomes antiquated, I have remained comfortable with HTML and CSS, picking up some PHP basics and a bit of Javascript along the way.

I'm proficient with the software tools of the trade. This, coupled with a solid understanding of printing techniques and press experience, makes me an efficient and pragmatic artworker.

Spare time

I enjoy cycling, playing bass guitar, listening to all kinds of music (minimal techno to Canadian indie), and am learning German.

Setting the scene

Then

I graduated from the Illustration/Design program at Capilano College in 2006. Prior to that, I completed a certificate programme in Graphic Communication & Print Technology (GC&PT) at the Vancouver Community College.

Following school, I joined a successful Vancouver studio to work on annual reports, develop brand identities, and lead a few website redesigns.

I recently left a position as the lead graphic designer at an urban design firm based in central London, UK. This post involved a wide range of design projects, including: public exhibition materials; book design and layout; company marketing materials and stationery; project naming and branding; and development of a symbol library.

Now

Now I find myself in Berlin, developing design and european advertising components for a long-established D-I-Y computer components brand.

And then...

What does the future hold? For now, it's time to work hard and produce conscious, considered design.

I'm currently based in Berlin, Germany. But, does it really matter where one lives in these times of e-mail and VoIP?
